Hair-Transplantation

Hair transplantation involves relocation or transfer of hairs from the occipital area to the bald area. Follicular unit hair transplantation is a surgical treatment of baldness in which follicular units of hair, (consisting of naturally occurring bundles of hairs), are transplanted in the bald area so as to give natural look. Hair transplantation is based on the ‘theory of donor dominance in androgenic alopecia.’ If a graft is taken from an area destined to be permanently hair-bearing and transplanted to an area suffering from male patterns baldness, it will, after an initial period of effluvium, grow hair in its new site as long as it would have at its original site. This is the scientific basis of hair transplantation surgery. The goal of hair transplantation is to mimic the natural hair pattern in the area of alopecia that aligns and blends into its surroundings.
